Texas is home of the Rio Grande turkey, whose population is now close to one million birds! One primary characteristic of the Texas Rio is that they are very vocal and responsive to calling. It is not uncommon to hear several Texas gobblers circling around you while you are in a brush blind.
We offer both fully guided and semi guided turkey hunts. The fully guided hunt provides a guide with you for the entire process. For more seasoned turkey hunters, the semi guided hunt is the way to go. The guide will set you in the best possible location and leave you to do your own calling while he or she goes to scout other birds. We scout our turkeys religiously and track their patterns and travel corridors. This allows us to be nimble in our set-ups, which many times include homemade brush blinds.
Turkey camp is usually one of our more laid back hunts, with lots of cutting up, followed by extremely animated stories of your recent outing. The West Texas country side is beautiful in the spring with wild flowers and green vegetation everywhere and it provides a perfect setting to watch one of those big ole gobblers coming in to your call. This is truly one of our favorite seasons that we look forward to every year. We manage our turkey population closely and conservatively. Book early, as this conservatism is reflected in the number of hunts we sell.
